In October 2011 Maties Underwater made it into the TOP10 of PADI Dive Centres in South Africa (# 6) for entry level certifications! Thanks to all our members for your support!

9th November 2011: Information evening Underwater Archeology in the clubhouse on Wednesday 9.11.,18h00. Come and find out more about the upcoming field school for underwater archeaology in February 2012. Divers of all levels can participate in the programme run by the Maritime and Cultural Heritage Unit at the South African Heritage Resources Agency in conjunction with the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. 26th October 2011: Maties Underwater presents scuba try outs for kids and members of the X-Stream Aquatic Club in the Blue Downs Swimming Pool in Cape Town. Four members of the X-Stream Aquatic Club where the lucky winners of a Discover Scuba Diving course in the yearly raffle of the club. Happy faces all over! Maties Head of Scuba and PADI Instructor Johnny Fassler with some of the X-Stream swimmers.
Maties Underwater Club will be running the first of many 7 Gill Sharklife courses in Western Cape! With all of our Divemasters & Instructors being passionate about our 7 Gill friends we guarantee an absolutely amazing experience! Sharklife is a proudly South African non-profit organisation that has made ocean conservation its mission! The Sharklife programs are not entirely based on sharks, they also go in to details on identifying fish species and sustainable fisheries. 1st course schedule: Tuesday the 13th of September – Theory – 18:00PM to 20:00PM Thursday the 15th of September – Theory – 18:00PM to 20:00PM Saturday the 17th of September – Diving – 08:00AM to 13:00PM After the course you will be able to join the club on any of the research projects that follow. The cost of the course is R1300.00 and includes the brand new Sharklife 7 Gill Crew Pack and all gear rentals.
